2021 Doubles league details
In addition to the Summer Cup this year we will be running a doubles league across the whole summer – each team can consist of 3 named players but only 2 can play in a particular match. We have 38 teams registered so far but be quick as the closing date is 16th April! A match will consist of 2 games with 3 points to the winner, 1 point for the draw, but in the event of a draw an extra point will be awarded to the team with the aggregate high score. The league will be around 9 teams each with 8 games to be arranged between the teams involved, we are catering for daytime only players in a league and will look for some geographical limitations unless teams specifically indicate they want to travel further field.
The league will run between late April and September and break into gold/silver & bronze knockout once the fixture list is complete – entry fee is £10 per team and all entries via [email protected] please !
2021 Summer Cup
In place of our usual league we are looking to kick off a Summer cup once all restrictions are lifted in mid June! This is free to enter and so far we have 31 teams registered, with a deadline of May 23rd for entry. We aim to give teams a minimum of 4 games in a group stage and then irrespective of finishing position at least 1 game in a straight knockout phase leading to a finals day in late September. Each team can consist of a minimum of 4 players and each match will involve 4 doubles matches (in knockout this may lead to a deciding 5th match) – all matches should be played on a Sunday unless mutually agreed – entry is free so please register or ask for further details from any of the committee members !
2021 SEASON
EXCITING 2021 NEWS – We can play again!
Good news finally! Whilst we have decided against a full league programme this year we have ensured that all players, old and new have ample opportunities to pick up their boules and play again!
This season will commence with a doubles league which we are looking to kick off towards the end of April – registration closes on 16th April and we will detail format etc in a separate post – however each team can consist of 3 players to ensure maximum opportunity for everyone, this will cost £10 per team to provide trophies etc.
Next up will be a Summer Cup – this will involve teams of 4-8 players and stretch from mid June to late September – so far we have 31 teams registered (it’s free!), please see separate post for details but registration will remain open until late May.
In addition to these competitions taking place across the whole summer, there will be a number of one day tournaments including The Eels Foot Cup, Moules and Boules and The Memorial triples.
A full and varied programme of events for us all to enjoy – registration for all of them can be made via any committee member and please keep an eye both here and via the Suffolk Coastal Petanque Facebook page for updates!
